Struggling with Quarantine Routine

Hi! Britni here, just trying to get my life in order.

I have a confession: I have been sucking at my routine! Right now, I begin my day with either breakfast and Netflix or I’ll go for a jog outside (I prefer to start my day with the latter). After, I’ll usually cook lunch, do some relaxing, instagramming, maybe glance at my planner, nap if I can, and then watch Netflix again or read until dinner. After dinner, I continue Netflix and have some tea and popcorn and then go to bed anywhere from midnight to 1:30am. So yes, I have been sucking at my routine….which is why I’m here.

Below I’m going to list my new quarantine routine (see previous routine blog for normal life routine that I grew pretty great at when the world was still spinning in real life) and a set of goals/insights of what I would like to have in my everyday/weekly life. I’m doing this to hold myself accountable and also to speak it into existence for myself. My little guides are something I do for myself, but with hope they can help someone else. So, enjoy!

Natural Schedule

Sleep by 11pm in order to wake up by 7 am

Eat dinner by 8pm at the latest in order to let my digestion rest while I sleep

Exercise Routine

using nature, youtube, and at home regiment designed by personal trainer

Sunday: jog 2 miles

Monday: regiment + walk 4 miles

Tuesday: stretch yoga / rest

Wednesday: regiment + yoga

Thursday: jog 2 miles

Friday: regiment + walk 4 miles

Saturday: stretch yoga

Goal is to begin exercise by 8 am. Regiment takes a little over an hour, as well as 4 mile walk so I’ve spaced those days out to add in some quality nature time. I also love stretch yoga so I may add in a little more of those throughout the week depending on how I feel. Exercising hasn’t actually been my struggle, I would just like to begin earlier in the day.

Personal/Business Development

I have enrolled in a free course on well/being and happiness (be on the lookout for my next blog post detailing my experience so far) as well as purchasing the Marketing Impact Academy membership by none other than the Chalene Johnson (love her). My hopes in doing this are to not only form better habits and get to know my own thoughts and expectations, but to also build on my business knowledge in order to better engage with my audience and supporters to whom I’m at service. Knowledge is power and learning more (I have so missed schooling) will put me one step closer to my future and where I strive to be 5 and 10 years from now.

Clay Life

I did achieve cleaning out my studio closest on Tuesday! Yay! So I have a little bit more breathing room and organization in my studio that will help with productivity. My only issue is space. The more I make, the less room I have, and now with two crazy cats, I have to be careful with my use of space to avoid accidents. I have not touched clay in a couple weeks but have plans to start again next week. I have multiple pending orders and commissions and I want to have everything ready to fire as soon as the kilns start running again so I can sell and then be able to buy my own kiln and work on my own terms. There are so many cool projects coming up though that I’m taking one day at a time so be excited with me!

What to do for pure fun

I’ve started a new book, Little Women, that I’m excited to read deeper into. I have almost finished Tiny Habits by BJ Fogg on Audible. I love to read while I drink tea and in natural sunlight (cliche alert), but really. I want to go out to the park next-door and lay in the sun (with ice water, not hot tea, cause it’s so warm outside) and just soak in the vitamin D and that great book, so I’ll be adding that to routine probably starting Tuesday because Alex leaves for the field again and I need something to fill my time while he’s gone and not giving me allll his attention.

I also really want to get into embroidery. I have this extreme urge to redecorate my apartment, that over they years has had a vey warm/cozy/artistic/gender neutral(?). But now I want light and minimal, which is going to be difficult for me because of all the art and photos on the wall and I love dark wood, but really I just need different. And embroidery is so cool to me and I’ve been studying planters and succulents so that would be a neat way to add in some nature, I think.

My first paint-by-number is complete and I have two more to finish. Those are so much fun but so tedious and take much longer to paint than I know the painter actually took because I’m taking someone else’s vision and making a replica. I know Monet and van Gogh painted much more freely, but I’m not a painter really so to envision something 2-dimensional is much more difficult for me.

Lastly, I have one more puzzle to do (two if I count the impossible starry night) which is of another of van Gogh’s painting. That will be framed and probably placed in my studio. Most of my paintings dated from years back will be put away (for now) to just give myself a breather from them.

Thanks for reading!

This definitely helped me out and I hope it did at least one of you, too! Please, tell me what you would like to do more of in your quarantine and what you would like to put away/stop doing for the time being?

I’m aiming to post at least 2 blogs a week during this covid-crisis, so if there’s anything you’d like for me to speak on or research for you, let me know in whichever way works best for you. I’ll talk to you soon!

Stay well and much love,

Britni
