Life Evaluation | Designing Your Life

Designing my life has been my main priority for the past several months and it has been an absolute blast.

It wasn’t always fun and easy though.

So I was in college for (gosh it took me 6 years to get through college) there were a lot of major changes. I was physical therapy, math, accounting, business, poli-sci, language. I’ve lost count it was so many.

And finally I settled on art, not settled, I didn’t want to start with art because that was my passion and my hobby and something I enjoyed and I did not want to lose my joy for art if I was made to make art and was graded on art. I did not want to turn my passion into my life. But after going through all those majors, the one thing I knew for sure is that I was bored! Not bored in a twittling thumbs way but bored in what I was learning. It wasn’t fun to me and it wasn’t challenging me in the way I wanted.

Throughout all of those changes and college as a whole, I was working 2-3 jobs along with my full course load and having to be physically and mentally present for my art studio classes. I actually had to wake up in enough time to make it to class. And throughout all of that burnout, I ended up taking a semester break in college. My mental health and confidence in my art was at an all time low. I was putting myself in bad situations that weren’t healthy for me and there was just a lot going on. I spent that semester in my room eating a lot of block cheese and crackers, drinking a lot of wine, and watching a lot of Netflix because that’s how I solved problems back then. It was not a high point in my life but I do not regret it because I had to hit that low before I could hit the high. I was so nervous to go back to school after that break, but the first semester back changed my life as an artist and as a person and I became a sculpture major.

I graduated school and then left the restaurant industry a year ago in March. That was the best decision of my life. Not only for my drinking habits, but for my sleep, my schedule, my art, and my relationship. And for my exhaustion because it was tiring working in the restaurant industry. Probably the last 6 months of it took a toll on my emotions and my health overall. But I enjoyed it and I loved serving people. I told you that, I loved serving people and that is what I missed about it.

Finally when I left - I had about 2 months off to myself to just sit and think about what I wanted out of life and what I wanted out of myself and out of my art. And I mean that time was beautiful. It’s funny because that was this time last year and now we have all of this time at home to sit and think, depending on what your life looks like. This time last year, this is what I was doing. I was focusing on my art and actually taking the time to get to know who I was because I was always Britni the Bartender or Britni the Manager or Britni the Student, but I was never Britni the Person or Britni the Artist or any of that.

I missed serving so much that I decided to go smaller and serve a family and get to know how children work in a daily setting without being a teacher. I used to play teacher when I was little and I always wanted to be a teacher but now that I think about it, I never want to work for someone, I want to work with someone, on my own curriculum and in my own studio. I did not go to art school to become a teacher, I went to art school to become a better artist because that is what drives me.

Since then I have attended Britni University

I’ve listened to countless podcasts, read so many books, listened to audibles, I am taking 6 free online courses right now because I guess I miss school that much. And I’m really working to figure out who I am and what my life needs and what I need to do to design my life in a way so that my future looks fun to me, not that it doesn’t look fun now because Alex and I have so many plans already in our heads, but just the fact that I have grown so much in being more self-aware. With that job transition came a lot; I wanted to change my lifestyle. I couldn’t stay up until 3am drinking wine anymore because I needed to be present for two of the sweetest little girls. I needed to practice a different kind of patience because I was with children and not adults all day. I had to learn how to communicate and I had to learn that I needed to be quiet and listen more than speak. I needed to actually be someone who these girls could look up to, not that I was morally bad when I started or anything. But there’s that drive to always want to be better than I was yesterday because I wanted to be a safe space.

That lifestyle change was so much better for me. Even now, I hardly drink anymore. Alex and I had a pizza and wine date last weekend and I didn’t bring the wine because when it came down to it, I just wanted the pizza. I have found other ways to enjoy my time and to take in the moment without going back to a vice that I personally didn’t need and could easily get sucked into because the Britni one year ago would have been like “can we just have wine and not the pizza?”

I say all of this to tell you that your life and what you do are so interconnected that you have no idea! You can sit here and tell me all day long that my work life and home life have nothing to do with each other but that just is not true. Because there’s a part of you who has to be there to be able to enjoy your work AND your home. If one of those are lacking, then that’s something we can work on because having that balance can bring out the best in you.

I have worked in multiple industries and in all levels of positions and I’ve taken the time now to sit down and think about my experiences in a way that has allowed me to give advice to others. So often I find that people come to me and tell me a story and ask me what to do next and I love that because I feel like that is my way to serve others, to serve you.

I love making my art. I don’t make my art for me even though I keep a lot (too many of the pieces). I make my art for you to have something to hold and enjoy your coffee with, to eat soup out of when you’re sick, to give as a gift to your loved ones. There is nothing greater than making a piece of art and seeing someone use it and that fills my heart more than me selling it to you. Like yeah I love when you buy my art, but I love when I see you use it even more.

And if you’re an artist, then you know how this feels. I have not been able to fire my clay yet. I’ve made so many different pieces, but I cannot go any further with them until the shut-down ends. Which is fine because it gives me time to actually make pieces that mean a lot to me rather than focusing on making enough to build a large inventory. It’s been nice to have the break with pottery so I can refocus, I’m ready to be back, but it’s been nice.

So in all of that I just sit here and think “well I cannot always serve people with the physical product so what about the mental support, what about telling them about my experiences and all of my little tips that I’ve accumulated over time and how I form habits because I spend so much of my time self-educating and I have this hunger for knowledge and navigating life?” I am such a sucker for forming new habits and setting daily goals for myself and pushing myself forward. I know goal-setting right now during this virus is not as lucrative because we don’t know where we’re going to be and our control is limited. Yeah we are supposed to open up tomorrow but most of the businesses I visit regularly have sent out emails saying that they’re keeping their doors closed for a little longer to see what’s going to happen. So to set long term  goals right now is just not the move. But setting habits? Now is the perfect time to practice habit setting. Looking at your routine and trying to chisel out your finances are so vital during this era. Right now is the time to deepen your relationship with your significant other or your children, or your roommates, or your parents, whoever you’re spending the most time with. Right now is the time to really search inside yourself and figure out who you are and what you’re about because that’s the only real way you’re going to improve.

I believe in myself and I believe in figuring out what is best for me. And there is something that is best for you that is different than what is best for me. But finding that has been such a fun journey. I am not certified. I do not have any type of coaching certification. And I do not want to be considered a “life coach” because that term does not fit me personally, but I would love to help you design your life! I would love to help you transform into who you are meant to and if there is something you have to offer to the world that you use to serve others, why not try to find that? I have done so much passion searching for myself and with others that it is an absolute blast for me and so exciting to try to see what is next.

What my idea is to do for you, if you’re willing and you want to design your life to make it everything you dream of, your financial life, your daily ritual, your habits, your relationships, or if you have this passion and you want to share it with someone else and you want to make something out of it, allow me to help you! You do not have to be rich to be a successful business owner. I have btreadwayart. I have puppimudworksco. I have small little brands that I’ve started up in the past and have had so much fun with them and have been able to make money off of them. It is thrilling to see where your mind takes you and I love helping others with that. In the past year, I’ve helped three friends start up small businesses, whether it’s a logo, slogans, branding, ideas or packages that could be offered. I love organizing and planning. I could spend all day in my planner and be happy, sometimes the planning is more fun for me than the doing. I love giving ideas, an ideator I think is what they call it, one of the new words out of this last generation. Sometimes I feel like I’m better at giving other people ideas than I am at creating my own because I’m too close to myself, sometimes we’re all too close to ourselves to really figure it out ourself.

Throughout the past month or two, you’ve learned what is necessary and what matters. You’ve learned the true important things in life and theres something to say for that. You’ve learned that maybe if you had a savings account built up, you wouldn’t be as stressed right now or maybe if you had a better relationship or better communication skills with your partner, there wouldn’t be as much tension in the air, or maybe if you just developed your own mind, you would be able to handle the anxiety of all of this a lot better. Any kind of improvement is going to make your life easier. It might be hell to get through that improvement but in the end, you’re going to be so glad you did it.

My hope is to help you in any way with what ever you need. No, I don’t have children yet, but I work with children and I think it’s enough to help a little or to at least be a sounding board. No I don’t have standalone store yet, but one day I will. I’ve planned it. I’ve drawn it out. It will happen. It’s in the books. No, I’m not a physical trainer by any means, but I practice forming habits constantly and would love to share my techniques.

I’m here to say that I have created a workbook for life evaluation covering 6 focal points

  • Routine

  • Healthy Habits

  • Finance

  • Relationships/connection

  • Personal Growth

  • Passion Search & Business Building

You can purchase this downloadable workbook and a spot on the live zoom call for $7 and that comes with lifetime access to the private Facebook group and private Instagram page.

As for when the live zoom call will take place, we can discuss that once you purchase because I would like to work with everyone’s schedule and live calls are so much more interactive and beneficial than when you watch a recording. You can fill out the workbook beforehand, you can wait and fill out the book with me during the call, or you can take notes during the call and fill out the book after. And that workbook is for you to judge your happiness level and your character strengths and refocus your priorities. My #1 character strength is honesty which is funny because I took the character strength test after I had decided to dabble into something like this and when you’re working with someone, you have to be able to trust them and I have always valued honesty over everything, like I’m honest to a fault sometimes. The fact that my strength comes full circle with this endeavor is just another justification for sharing this with you.

Everyone who joins for this live group call will be a Family Founding Member since you are with me from the beginning.

Founding Family Members receive special pricing from now until the end of time.

Along with the workbook and call, you receive lifetime access to the private groups. Facebook will be used as more of a discussion board and idea panel so that we can connect with the others in this little family we’re all going to create. Instagram will be for daily check-ins and posts about what’s going on in life and having something uplifting to be a part of everyday. In both groups, I’ll be posting shorts videos of tips and little things as I learn multiple times a week that could be useful to you.

Now if after the workbook/zoom call, you want to have one-on-one consultation and go over the topics that you would like to focus on as well as daily accountability- as a founding family member, your first month is only $10 which includes one 30 minute phone call consultation and then three 15 minute check-in calls, scheduled at your convenience during that month. With this includes daily accountability on whatever topic of your desire. I will help you with whatever you need, or you and your partner. You don’t have to pay twice, just try to both be there with us so we can do this together and work as a team. This is all up to you because you’re the one designing your life. If you need me to text you everyday and say, “hey did you do your pushups today?” I will do that for you if that helps keep you on track. And then after that you can choose to opt-in to a recurring monthly session, if you want to.

If that one group zoom session is enough for you, that is totally fine! All-in-all, you’re going to be the one doing the physical work. I’ll be putting my resources together for you and being your guide and your partner in this, but you have to want it. It’s your life to design, this is all up to. And when it comes down to it and you decide that you don’t need that one-on-one daily accountability, then you can purchase the $8 package for just one 45 minute zoom call to go over your specific needs that I can help you with and that can happen whenever is best for you.

This is all tailored designed to fit your needs. In the group call, we’re going to go over all six topics because there might be one that you don’t think you need any help with but may decide that it would be useful to focus on that issue for a couple of weeks.

I have figured out so much for myself and I would love to help you begin designing your life!

I am not here to make you feel alone in this. That is the whole point of this. I know how it is to feel alone in something and it sucks! You’re never really alone. I love seeing all of the people saying “if you feel alone or need someone to talk to, let me know” and that is awesome but we are all too shy and maybe too prideful to take them up on their offer. This is an open invitation to be a part of a support group where you know that I’ve got your back. You can bounce your ideas off of other members to get all the feedback. This is my way to share and connect with you through all of the information I have been educating myself with through podcast, books, audibles, free online courses, experiences and experimentation. All of my resources I am organizing and giving to you in an easy and applicable format.

So if you want to do this and you have a few friends you would like to do this with you or who you think would love this, get your friends together! If you refer 3 people and they start the family with us, you will receive your workbook and call spot for free because you’re already putting effort into designing your life and building connections. Adding to our little family would mean so much to me!

If you have any questions about any of it and you want to know more about it or if you’re absolutely in and ready to start, right now it’s at a discount for $7. That is not enough to be outrageous, but just enough to make this an investment that you’re going to care about and you’re going to do the work for and that is what matters.

If you’re ready to evaluate your life and you want to do this with me, with us, message/email me, let me know. I really hope to see you there because it’ll be so much fun and I cannot wait to try it out. Making this public is something new for me, but also something I’ve had floating around in my mind for quite a while now. It is such a dream to be able to serve you in a new way and I am loving it. You enjoy your weekend and have some sweet dreams and I’ll be seeing you. Thank you!
