Storm Honey Pot

Storm Honey Pot

$75.00

This honey pot is food-safe and microwave/dishwasher safe but I recommend handwashing for longevity.

It can be used for honey and comes with the stick.

All jars and lids are thrown separately. Both forms are wedged into a ball from a clay block and thrown on the wheel. Once the jar is centered, I pull the walls up to the height and then form it into its shape. I then will dry it a little with the propane torch and the take it off the wheel to dry overnight so I can flip it upside down onto the wheel head and trim the bottom. This allows me to give it its final shape and smooth out the sides of the wall. After the lid is thrown and dried enough to trim, I’ll place it upside down on the jar for the first half of the trimming process. This is where I’m able to put the angle in the edge that will then fit nicely into the jar. I’ll flip the lid correct side up and clean up the top of the lid and perfect the fit onto the jar, and then cut a divot for the stick to fit into. Up next is to stamp the bottoms with my logo, dry completely with the lid sitting on the jar over a few days and then bisque fire. This allows the lid to remain a tight fit on and not warp as it fires. Once the kiln is cool, I’ll wipe off the clay dust from the pot and glaze the inside and outside and then glaze fire the the jar and the lid together, careful to not glaze where the lid sits on the jar. The final step is to sand the bottom and the edge of the lid and rim of jar into a smooth surface and wash the jar. The jar is now ready to enjoy.
